Sick

Well, along with the rest of the world it seems, we have been hit by the sick bug. More accurately, Brenna was hit... hard. And as horrible as this sounds, I really enjoyed the first two or three days of it. She was so cuddly and all she did was sleep and cuddle and drink. I was concerned of coarse, she had a fever that got as high as 102.5 degrees at one point, and she didn't eat almost anything for 3 days, but she was drinking and sleeping lots, so I tried not to worry too much. This is a picture while we were waiting for daddy to get home from work I turned the TV on for about two minutes and looked over and she was zonked out. This is so very UNtypical of Brenna, but it was nice! This was probably her third nap of the day. Anyway, after this stage of sickness there came a not so fun three days or so where she was over the fever and now just stuffy and coughing, and CRANKY! Unbelievably cranky! She would whine for a whole day straight! Also, very clingy. She has never been so attached to mommy as she has been lately. It definitely took its toll on me since I always had to be less than 5 feet away, but it didn't make her less cranky, just a little less loud!
I'm glad to report that she is better now and finally back to her happy self, and I'm loving it! And the best part of this all, is that her sleeping habits have changed a bit in a wonderful way. She now goes right to sleep at nap time... reaches for her penguin and rolls over for her blanket and then just goes to sleep... no tears. Then between 7:30 and 8 PM she asks... yes ASKS, to go to bed. She wouldn't even let us read to her for a few days, just straight to bed! Now she will sometimes let us get in one story along with prayer but still, she wants right in bed. I'm not complaining about that, and I hope it stays! Especially since this is the weekend we are making the big move to the toddler bed!
I've been working all week on getting her new room together and it's ready to go (minus a few decorations that will take me some time to get together). I'm excited, and I'll post the progress on how it goes!

Conclusion of Baby Projects

Well I posted a while pack some projects I'd made for the new baby, and I've finally finished all of the ones that I had planned. There are, of coarse, lots of other things I'd like to do still, but I've run out of supplies for now, so I'm going to try and distract myself with other things so that I'm not tempted to go back to the fabric store and stock up again... at least not until we have a better idea of things we want/need for a little boy! I really don't know what to expect with a boy!

Nursing cover
With a pocket... incase nursing is anything like it was with Brenna!
Blanket/burp cloth
My first time trying some of the different stitches available on my machine.. I had fun.
Changing pad to match the nursing cover.

attention all moms

I am writing this post at a time of desperation, so please excuse the dramatics, but ... HELP! My beautiful, easy little girl is growing up and I am feeling lost! Things used to be so easy with her... I am currently listening to her SCREAM in her crib like I am some sort of traitor. Now you may say... go get her then. It's not that simple. I put her down for her nap two hours ago. She usually cries for a minute or two before drifting off, but she didn't calm down today, so I went in. I rocked her until she fell asleep, then I rocked her more just for good measure. Then I laid her back down, and she was still asleep... until I shut the door on my way out. Then she woke up and cried and cried for a long time. So I eventually went back in again and got her, took her to our bed and laid down. I quietly whispered in her ear and rubbed her hands for about 30 minutes before it started turning ugly. She was still not sleeping and I was getting frustrated. So then we ended up nearly wrestling with me trying to hold her in one position and her fighting, biting, clawing her way out, just to fight out of the position of her choosing as well. After probably at least 10 to 20 minutes of this, I was starting to lose my cool. I could feel the tears coming, and besides, it's not easy to wrestle with a toddler when your belly is gigantic and she keeps kicking it in a sore spot. So now she is in her crib again... probably a long shot, but I am praying she falls asleep because I don't know what good I can do for her right now.
So, this is my cry for help from all you more experienced moms (if any of you read this). What do you do when your babies turn into toddlers. I have never had a toddler, and quite frankly wasn't expecting most of this behavior from my perfect little girl. This is the second day in a row that nap time has turned into a war and I'm at a loss. She isn't ready to stop napping... she's actually very tired, and that's probably why we're both so grumpy. Some other troubling behavior... she hits. We are working on this too, but it still slightly shocks me each time she does it. She hits everyone... kids, parents, strangers. Did I teach her to be aggressive? I don't remember doing it!
