Best Cousins

Did you guys have best cousin's growing up. I did. And it was separate from best friends. It's a complicated hierarchy. These two are best cousins in the making, since they are only a few months apart!

Brave Brenna

Brenna is about as little as they get to be allowed to go down this slide, but she loves it! The first time I had to go down beside her and basically force it on her, but after that, she was a pro! Some kids a little older were a bit too scared of the slide! Not to brag or anything... haha just kidding... the slide is like basically just as big as shown in the picture.

Travelling

I have a quick question for anyone who reads this who has traveled with kids. I am going to Canada for 3 1/2 weeks sometime, and I am starting to wonder what the best way is to keep your kids on some sort of a schedule while you're on an extended vacation? Also any suggestions for a sleeping arrangement? We will be in my parent's basement so we'll have one bedroom and then the whole basement and a pack and play. I can't decide if I should put Brenna in my room with me, or Mason in there and Brenna outside, or put her in my bed with me or get her to sleep on a mat on the floor... I'm worried if I put her outside my room (which is probably ideal) she will wander the basement when she wakes up. Any hints?

Summer in the Sun

I hearby declare this The Summer in the Sun! The summer has not only begun here, but is in full swing with temps starting to be in the 100's every day and plenty of reasons to want to jump in a pool. We have been swimming like CRAZY already, and there are no signs of slowing down. We have water park season passes, and Brenna asks every day if we can go. Unfortunately for her, I am not about to take two kids who can't swim to the water park by myself, but we will definitely try and go on the weekends with dad. Also we have ward play dates twice a week which have now moved from the park to the splash pad for some relief from the heat. Also, both of Jeremy's parents have pools in their yards/neighborhoods, and we are making good use of those already too! They live a little far to do it as often as we'd like though. We are always up for a swim these days though and it looks like we'll be spending a good chunk of our summer outside and in the water. I am stocking up on sunscreen, swim diapers, and flotation devices! If you have a pool and want swimmers, we'll be there! Also, I am hoping to at least get a good start on helping Brenna learn to swim since she always want to go... any suggestions on good ways to start? She will blow bubbles in the water sometimes, and she will lay on her stomach in the tub, but don't even try and lay her down on her back unless you want a full out screaming and wresting match!

Have a great summer ya'll! We are hopefully going to be able to see everybody between Canada and here, so get your suits ready!

Nostalgic

I did Brenna's hair like this a few days ago at night after her bath.

It made me reminisce about my childhood days with my mom and sisters. That sounds weird, but my mom used to do our hair like this and I can remember it well! She would braid it at night, so we could sleep on it and let it dry and it would get kinky for the morning. I decided to try it with Brenna just for fun, and to see if the ends would be curly AND kinky... how awesome would that be? Here's how it turned out for us! I wish I had some pictures of my hair and my sisters hair like this to put up with this post, but I don't have any on hand!

A little 80's anyone? haha I don't know if we'll do it again any time soon, but it was fun anyway!
