| Ok, I realized I need to take more pictures of my dad! haha nobody's smiling, but I'm going with what I have! |
I have the greatest dad! I know you think you do, but I do. There was a time (my teenage years) when things weren't as easy between us all the time, and I'm sad that I let that happen. But I am so happy with the relationship we have now. He is a busy guy! He has a newish job that keeps him very busy and he travels a fair amount too. He is the bishop of their ward, also a busy job. And he has the farm to take care of and spends many of his Saturdays out there doing stuff! I feel bad that he's so busy all the time, but I also know he likes being busy and productive too. And it makes the times when we get to chat extra special to me! I love getting phone calls from him. He'll call randomly on his way home from somewhere when he's stuck in the car, and I am always so glad for the call. I talk to my mom regularly (which I also treasure!), but usually my dad isn't home and misses those talks, so it's really nice to talk when he calls. I feel like I can talk to him about anything without worrying about what he'll think. He tells me all the time how much he loves me and how nice it was to read my blog and see the pictures, how pretty I (and the rest of his daughters) are. His calls are really always a pleasant surprise and a pick-me-up to my day! I always feel like daddy's little girl afterwards!
While the reason for this post is obvious, it being father's day, I am so glad for the chance I've had over the last week or two to think about my dad and how truly grateful I am for him! So thank you dad! For coming to all of my games. For coaching (or trying to) me. For always trying to help me to be/do my best. For setting aside time to talk to me. For not yelling at me when I crashed the dirt bike. For trying to teach me how to ride a dirt bike! For taking me on camping trips. For working so hard so that we could have such a nice life. For taking us on family vacations. For letting me and my rowdy kids invade your home once or twice a year for an extended period of time (ok, this is mostly mom, but I know it changes things a bit for everybody living there!). For always praying for us and caring about us. For doing your best to be the best dad and husband. For teaching me the importance of hard work and early rising and having pride in a job well done. And lastly, (I'd say mostly, but I really can't decide which of these is most important!) loving mom and making sure we all knew it all the time.
I could go on, but I'll leave it at this for now, and just say how much I love you dad! Happy Fathers day! This virtual verbal hug will have to do until I can be there in a month! (yay! Only one month to go!) I love you and mom so much, and being far away helps me to really treasure the times we do have together! Thanks to both of you, I couldn't love you more!
Also A little note for the other men in my life! I have been so blessed! Happy Father's Day Grandpa!
Happy... Men are Great day Devin!
And another big shout out to my husband and father of my children! They adore you, they have been scheming for days about father's day, and we all love you so much! Thanks for all that you do!
